新年的盆栽

今天和父母，还有我们一家一起到Sungai Buloh 的 plants nursory  买了三盆植物和花，非常开心。那边的盆栽又美又便宜；万紫千红 RM20（开价RM25），圣诞红RM22（开价RM25）和驱蚊草RM6。那两盆又红又美的万紫千红和圣诞红非常应景，迎接新年来临。放在我们家外的门口，走廊，焕然一新。只可惜，在那边购买的时间相当匆促，没认真看每一种花草树木，还有栽种器具，架子等。太多车了，也相当热及晒。

驱蚊草 Pelargonium citronellum

Tips & Warnings

• Citronella grows best in nitrogen rich soil. Yellow leaves are symptoms of low nitrogen levels. If this occurs, treat with an organic fertilizer.

• Type: tender perennial
• Planting time: spring, after the last frost
• Features: strongly lemon-scented leaves
• Light: sun to part shade
• Height: 24 to 36 inches
• Soil: light, well drained, on the dry side
• Spacing: 12 to 24 inches
• Plant Size: 2 to 3 feet tall
• Garden use: herb garden, flower border, containers

A scented geranium, this is a great patio plant, especially in containers. Do not over-fertilize because too much nitrogen reduces leaf fragrance. Sometimes called citronella, but actually a citrus-scented geranium. Although crushed leaves do have some ability to repel mosquitoes, the plants alone are grown more for their refreshing scent than mosquito-repelling characteristics. Place them near a gate or path where you brush against the leaves as you walk by, or in a pot where children can rub the leaves to enjoy their fragrance. Plants are vigorous growers and perfect for containers. Drought tolerant.
